Tha Bronx Grimey Sound is Back! Branesparker from the Freestyle Professors talks (amongst other things) about the beginning of our beloved sampling-culture with the pause-button on a tape deck. Back in the days where only a few had a sampler or could afford one, the tape deck was your main recording unit.When i was a little boy, it was all about the tape recorder.

I did my first so called “mixes” at the age of 5 or 6 on a tape deck without even knowing that Hip-Hop exists LOL. When I discovered Hip Hop in the eighties I recorded so many tracks and albums on tape before I got it on vinyl later.

So to me the tape deck should get the same credits like the vinyl because it has the same important position in the hip hop history. The skit features one of my favourite breaks: Little Richard – The Rill Thing.

The drum break in the beginning is very popular, but I like the part with the bassline more than the drum break so I did some backspins with that bass-part over Branesparker´s distinctive voice.
