The interview pt. 1
City Haze from NY took some time to make an exclusive interview with us. The following is the first part of the interview, where City Haze is talking about his latest street-album „Star Of The City“, his basically „go-to-guys“ producers and plans for the next summer.
Part two available here: Interview with City Haze
Rap and Blues:
Hello City Haze, welcome to Rap and Blues. What do friends call you, what is your nickname?
City Haze:
Thanks for having me. First off I’m no ladies pet (Laughs) Secondly everyone either calls me City or Haze.
Rap and Blues:
Good in my opinion that your music reached me first. I think I got a Street Album called „Star of the city“ from you via kevinnottingham.com in May of this year and I pumped this shit through summer. We drank some Glenlivet to „Tell me whats good“ before hittin´ da club. We had a good summer here in Hamburg, how was yours?
City Haze:
I appreciate the positive feedback! My Summer was great. I got back to performing around the tri-state and packed out a bunch of venues. I did a little partying here and there (Laughs). I didn’t get toooooo crazy but I definitely enjoyed the summer and I looking forward to enjoying 50 more.
Rap and Blues:
The production on your tracks is very solid, always radio playable. Raps and music are from the soul. Who are your „go-to-guys“, producer?
City Haze:
A lot of talented Producers submit records to me on a regular basis. One of my main „Go-to-guys“ is my homie Jimba Frosty. His sound pretty much fits the radio-friendly/smooth style of City Haze.
Rap and Blues:
Did the „Star of the City“ Album helped this Summer with the Girls? I remember havin´ „Feenin“ in da tapedeck, helpin´ me with a girl…
City Haze:
„Star Of The City“ wasn’t necessarily for the girls even though there were a lot of female friendly records on the project. I aimed for the project to sound very Commercial/Musical. Feenin‘ will be on the next LP which is titled „Room Six 9“.
Rap and Blues:
Did it help with the music industry, any new contacts or collabos you want to talk about?
City Haze:
Everything must remain in quiet mode for now (Laughs) sorry I cant leak that information right now.
Rap and Blues:
Where do you see yourself next summer?
City Haze:
Grinding heavier and working three times harder than i did in the summer of 2010.
