RAP-N-BLUES.com hooked up with DJ 12Finger Dan and DJ B-Base, the producers behind the Boom Bap Masterpiece Collector’s Item. They wanted to share a little bit of their perspective on the album and what made them do it, the way it has been done. Listen to every track, spiced up with a little anecdote.

„The Rebirth“ feat. Dashah
Yeah that joint is mad dope! That beat is about 13 years old and was in my bag since then. But then we had met Dashah, a mad talented MC from Long Island who now residents in Brooklyn. We had connected through MySpace during the works on our album and he was down for a collabo.
When I thought about a beat that could fit nicely for his flow, I remembered that one that no one else has picked out yet. So I polished that beat up a bit by adding a new drum set and that „Jepp Jepp“-Sample from Marley Marl´s „Droppin´ Science„.
I was influenced by Pitch Black´s „It´s All Real“ – one of my alltime favs – where Premo had added that sample too. So I payed some homage to „It´s All Real“ by adding that „Jepp Jepp“ to my beat as well.
By the way, I did a track for his Rap Burglar Album Pt. 2 called Fly Away. The vocals were re-recorded and to me the mixdown sounds a bit messed up. But it´s a nice track anyway. Digg it out here .
